SKATING Various 80 PP/SKATE/14 Catalogues and related material concerning ice skates: a catalogue, date unknown, of Robert Sorby & Sons Ltd, Kangaroo Works, Sheffield, including some skates (pp. 52-3); some photocopies of pages from another Sorby catalogue showing skates - a letter from John Wilson Marsden Bros & Co. to Mrs Lorna Delanoy mentions the loan of a 1907 Sorby catalogue, so these pages presumably come from that; a 1980 one-page leaflet on John Wilson blades, to which the letter also refers; a letter to Mrs Delanoy from MK Skates Ltd and three of the firm's leaflets - "Choosing the best blades", "A Newcomer to Ice Skating" and "MK ice skates the choice of world champions etc." SKATING Various PP/SKATE/ There is a large archive of printed papers and other material, most of which seems to have come from the Tebbutt family of Bluntisham. It was here by September 1974 when Chris Morris listed it, using the numbers assigned to it under the old (wide-ranging) "documents" category. The items then were 257, re Bandy at Bury Fen; and 341-345, 349, 380, 431, 435, 453 and 485, all apparently collected by C.G. Tebbutt. 257 may well have been a Tebbutt item as well. They were doubtless given to the Museum at the same time as the Tebbutt skates, whenever that was. In addition to these, there is also the Sorby catalogues and related material given by Lorna Delanoy in 1992. Note that as well as printed papers the collection includes some significant MSS and a few objects - ribbons etc. Photographs and Whymper's skating sketches, originally in this collection too, have now been moved to the appropriate place.
