Robert Morden was a successful early English bookseller, publisher, and mapmaker, globemaker and engraver. His premises were under the sign of the Atlas in Cornhill aand New Cheapside in London.

His maps of the English Counties were first published in a new edition of William Camden’s Britannia in 1695. They were new maps that used information from local gentlemen.

This map is hand coloured. Note how it shows hints of roads near some places.

Robert Morden’s body of work included some of the first maps of the Americas, Asia, Africa, and a two circular maps of the world, prior to the discovery of Australia.
